More likely Romney realized that a) he has an awkward relationship with the conservative base yet doesn't want to scare independents,

This pick will scare independents.

You would say that about any pick he made. You're a hack, that's what hacks do. He's not Bachmann, Rand Paul, Coburn, DeMint, Palin, etc. He doesn't have an abrasive personality like Christie. He doesn't on his own turn off anyone that wasn't already turned off by Romney. Whether Mr. Hope and Change decides to bombard the airwaves with attack ads about the guy is immaterial. He would have done that with anyone, and it was always going to work. Negative ads and boatloads of money almost always work, but Obama didn't tell the electorate that in 08....

Paul Ryan is not middle class...

A lot closer to middle class than millionaire Obama is. He lives off of a Rep's income (170k), with a stay at home wife and three kids, and trips to and from Washington every week.

You do realize that his wife is loaded right? Paul Ryan is extremely wealthy and it's estimated to go up into the millions by Politico. Obama is a best selling author and POTUS, of course he's wealthy.
