Is he the first potential candidate to come out with an opinion?

As noted in that article, Paul is against air strikes, and I haven't seen the others comment on specific policies yet.  They all blame Obama for letting things get so bad, but I haven't seen the others besides Paul and Rubio opine on what to do next.

The insurgents' gains are nearly finished. They already picked off most of the low hanging fruit sunni areas. If they go further south they'll be like William Wallace attacking York.

*bump*

Rubio said this two months ago, and will now of course crow about being prescient, now that Obama has authorized limited military intervention.

Meanwhile, Peter King backs Obama's actions:

Is Rick Perry going to chime in with his idea of re-invading Iraq? Iraq is such as mess because we wasted $1 trillion on a stupid war there, not because of lack of attention paid to it.

Now Rubio wants to expand US air strikes into Syria:

The difference in foreign policy positions from one party to the other only exist in the warped mind of extreme liberals and extreme conservatives.  Foreign policy, at least as far as politicians go, is NOT a partisan issue.
