wow!  If Texas was mildly interesting, check out Utah-Extreme!  Look at the various shades of blue.  Democrats will likely win it in '08.

I remember reading that if Kerry were to have gotten support from 80% of those who call themselves Democrats, he still wouldn't have broken 30%. Shocked

Democrats will probably win Summit County in 2008, which contains the liberal Park City, a skiing resort and site of the Sundance Film Festival.

I always thought the Sundance Film Festival was in Sundance Wyoming.

Nope, it's primarily Park City, although apparently also partially in Salt Lake City.

Park City is probably the only socially liberal part of Utah.

Gore actually won Salt Lake city in 2000 by a small margin although he lost the county it was in.  I don't know what happened there in 2004 but I presume Bush won SLC by a small amount.

Ah, ah, ah... be careful. That's only the case if most political/demographic trends either locally or nationally from 2004 are the same or similer in 2008.

Actually, look at Salt Lake City.

Its mayor and a couple of city councilmembers are left wing loonies.

Downtown Salt Lake City may be quite liberal, and parts of it may be, but on a whole, I think it was probably narrowly Republican.  Even if it was Democratic, I think that was more to do with populist voters than libertarian ones.
