Salzburg claim seventh Austrian title

(AFP) Sunday 13 May 2012

Salzburg claimed their seventh Austrian league title on Sunday after winning 5-1 at Wiener Neustadt in their penultimate game of the season.

The emphatic victory took them six points clear of nearest rivals Rapid Vienna, meaning they cannot be overtaken. Defending champions Sturm Graz, meanwhile, are 17 points off the pace in fifth position.

It was a fourth national title for Salzburg since the club were taken over by Dietrich Mateschitz, founder of the energy drink company Red Bull, in 2005.

Salzburg will attempt to complete the Austrian double for the first time in their history when they meet Ried in the Austrian Cup final on 20 May.

The weather in Munich is GREAT (like here in Salzburg). The sky is blue, no clouds and 25°C.

Here are some pics of what happened in the city today, with one and a half hours to go:

If 120 minutes do not result in a goal, here's the penalty stat for Bayern and Chelsea:

Bayern: 4 times penalty shootouts in European competitions - 4 times won

Chelsea: 2 times penalty shootouts in European competitions - 2 times lost

My prediction (2:1) is still alive, Bayern just needs to score one more goal.

The good thing for Chelsea is that they don't have an English goalkeeper ... Tongue
