Certainly. If the Democrats nominate McCarthy or Lindsay, it's a lot better for them than McGovern would have been. If the Rockefeller Presidency is more successful, I could see either Humphrey or McGovern winning only RI or MA or MN or a conservative Democrat like Ross Barnett or Reubin Askew winning only MS, AL, SC, LA, GA, and FL, in order of likelihood of winning it.

Maybe a 50 state sweep against McGovern?
If it was McGovern v. Rockefeller, Ross Barnett or John Schmitz or George Wallace or Strom Thurmond would run third party.

Highly likely, and only McCarthy or Scoop Jackson would've been remote threats.

GOP was still reasonable back then.
"Reasonable"? Do you mean "liberal" if Rockefeller won? Yeah, I think McCarthy could do quite a bit by uniting the youth and anti-war wings of both parties. Jackson, meanwhile, would do the opposite.
