NY Governor Andrew Cuomo introduces a bill to ban ownership of a firearm by those who have been convicted of domestic violence/assault - more than likely a wholesome piece of legislation but obvious pry at building a 2020 resume - not to mention the questionable Constitutionality of it.

Most states have have such provisions forever.

The Economist talks to Eric Garcetti about 2020, and the mayor ends up using “O’Malley” as a verb:

Also, he continues to try to play it safe:

But the best part of the story was this cartoon:

I hope using O'Malley as a verb becomes a trend.
Same.

John Kasich has began taking out sponsored ads on Facebook, in a "Country over Party" campaign on his website.

Definitely waging a war against Bannon-esque Republicans.

I'd love a good sitting president primary challenge. Haven't had one in my lifetime.

Honestly this thread is the only reason to ever look at the 2020 board at all.

Billionaire hedge funder Ray Dalio has started up a Twitter account, and is aggressively promoting his book, the "Principles", which says is key to his success. (Employees of his firm Bridgewater are required to memorize it.) With a net worth of $17 billion, it's not as if he needs the money, so in this day in age one can only suspect...

Observer - Gillibrand emerges as a leader for the Democrats

Almost certainly a 2020 candidate at this point.

Weekly Amy Klobuchar news

Klobuchar has made the news for her reaction to the Fox-Disney deal:

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-fox-m-a-disney-senator/leading-u-s-antitrust-senator-urges-hearing-on-disney-fox-deal-idUSKBN1E92WT

http://variety.com/2017/politics/news/disney-fox-congress-hearings-amy-klobuchar-1202642693/

There was also, interesting, a poll in the Minneapolis Star Tribune asking whether she should run for President: http://www.startribune.com/poll-should-sen-amy-klobuchar-run-for-president-in-2020/421630883/

Klobuchar and Kamala Harris were part of a bill to prevent foreign cyber interference in elections: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/senators-to-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-prevent-foreign-cyber-interference-in-elections/

Meanwhile, Cory Booker is getting more security following a death threat:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/police-beef-sen-cory-bookers-security-death-threat/story?id=51842607

(I guess that Booker story isn’t really about whether he’s going to run in 2020, but it didn’t seem significant enough to start a whole new thread over, so I put it here.)

Noted youth superstar Jay Inslee.

Hehe.

He’s a perfectly adequate governor, but he’d be an absolute dud on the national stage

Here’s a recap of de Blasio’s Iowa trip:

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2017/12/19/iowa-bill-de-blasio-touts-progressive-populism-but-says-hes-not-running-president/962272001/

He says he’s not running for president, using present tense:

For that matter, during his mayoral campaign, he said that he’d serve his full term if elected, which would seem to rule out a 2020 run.  That said, when he was asked about it last week, he gave a non-answer:
