Huh, what terrorists did Hussein kill? He gassed his own people for the most part...and tried to assassinate Poppy Bush. But Republicans, you're stuck with him until November.
I disagree with Trump on the Iraq War, but I know where he is coming from.

The whole Shia/Shiite Muslim civil war thing in Iraq didn't come to pass during Saddam Hussein's reign because he was such an utter dirtbag that he was murdering his own people at the first hint of insurrection.  To that extent, ISIS or really any dissent could not grow under in a Saddam Hussein Iraq.

Once Saddam was deposed, civil war broke out. Once Obama didn't leave a forward base of operations in Iraq, it left a vacuum where ISIS could flourish.

You do realize that Assad was murdering his own people when the protests started in Syria, and that didn't stop a civil war from breaking out?  Also, Saddam didn't even have control of the entirety of Iraq prior to the invasion.

With Assad, you're talking two different distinct periods in history.

As far as Saddam goes, he pretty much had the uneasy alliance of Shia/Shiite under control. But there's no denying that he was an evil despot.
