Imagine a time traveler from January 1, 2040, tells you just one party controlled the presidency for the entire 2030s. What do you think happened?

The last time just one party controlled the presidency for a full decade were the 1940s for Dems. Before, the GOP controlled the presidency through the entire 1900s and 1870s. Dems almost did it again for the 2010s, had HRC won.

Either Trump serves a second term from 2025-29 and Democrats win three in a row (2028, 2032 and 2036)

Or Biden is re-elected in 2024 and the GOP sweeps 2028, 2032 and 2036

Republicans continue to double down on Trumpism, refuse to adapt to different voting methods, and Dems sweep all the way to 2040 give or take the House/Senate flipping here and there for periodic one party control. Not out of the question to win 5 consecutive elections.
