Liking Star Wars is incompatible with liking the sequel trilogy.

I've tried to type out five different responses to this thread but I had to delete all of them because I wasn't satisfied with what I'd written. The contempt I feel for the sequel trilogy and Rogue One is so extreme that I don't think it can be expressed in the written word. Relative to their budgets, those are the worst pieces of entertainment ever conceived by human beings. Their awfulness defies description.

The original trilogy is good though, and at least the prequels are fun for a laugh.

The Phantom Menace is the best because of Jar Jar Binks and pod racing.

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
The Phantom Menace
The Force Awakens
The Last Jedi
The Rise of Skywalker

Honestly though, I only like the original trilogy and aspects of Revenge of the Sith. I thought the prequels were mostly absolute abominations.. ...and then the sequel trilogy came out. At least the prequel trilogy tried to tell an original story. The sequel trilogy did nothing new, was incoherent, and had no substance. And the Rise of Skywalker was such a hot mess.

Just for some context, I was 5 when Phantom Menace came out, and I was very clearly its target market. I'm ranking these by how much I enjoy watching them, not which ones are the best-made or most cinematically significant.

Return of the Jedi
A New Hope
Force Awakens
Phantom Menace
Empire Strikes Back
Rise of Skywalker
Rogue One
Last Jedi
Solo
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith

The Phantom Menace is the best because of Jar Jar Binks and pod racing.

That is all

It taught me spinning - that's a good trick.

I know. The sequel trilogy felt like really bad fan fiction.

Like Sonic the Hedgehog, there's a place in my heart, but the time has passed for me to seriously consider them beyond the original iterations that broke ground.

The creators of old are long gone, the parts that were worth it for the memes have been played out.

Now it's all a struggle between nostalgia pandering, attempting a new direction, and an unpleasable fanbase with too much control.

Naturally, I made my exit at a (excuse the meme) high ground [Clone Wars Season 8] and haven't looked back.

I can only conclusively say now that Attack of the Clones, and the "sequels" were bad, The Originals and Revenge of the Sith were good, and everything else is somewhere in between.

I watch the Mandalorian right now, which is pretty good.

In terms of the movies, the original ones were the best followed by the 1990s/2000s movies, followed by the new ones.

11. The Rise of Skywalker

It get that it's incredibly hard to make a satisfying ending to a series that will please even a majority of people, but how do so many series manage to make endings that are so comically bad?

Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope

Return of the Jedi

The Force Awakens

Return of Skywalker

The Last Jedi

Revenge of the Sith

The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones

You dont like Revenge of the Sith?

Revenge of the Sith is awful, it suffers from the same problems as the rest of the prequels.  Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, goofy fight sequences, boring dialogue scenes, bad pacing and story.  People say they "like" it because they grade it on a curve, and 1 and 2 are so awful that 3 looks good in comparison.  But IMO the prequels are all very similar and clearly inferior to the sequels.

The fight scenes in Revenge were better than in any other movie(It has 2 of the 3 best lightsaber duels in the saga). It's plot was far deeper and emotional than ANH by far, and Ian Mcdiarmid does an excellent job as Palpatine

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are better than any of the prequel trilogy and sequel trilogy films. They both captured the essence of the classic trilogy while also feeling fresh and original.
