SB County Presidential Election results from 2000-2016. Santa Barbara County has been voting almost identical to the state as a whole in recent election  (Rounded up to the nearest tenth of a percent)

Santa Barbara County:

2000: Gore 47.4% - Bush 46.1% - Nader 5.6%

2004: Kerry 53.2% - Bush 45.2%

2008: Obama 60.2% - McCain 37.4%

2012: Obama 57.4% - Romney 39.4%

2016: Clinton 59.9% - Trump 31.5%

California:

2000: Gore 53.5% - Bush 41.7%

2004: Kerry 54.3% - Bush 44.4%

2008: Obama 60.9% - McCain 36.9%

2012: Obama 60.2% - Romney 37.1%

2016: Clinton 61.5% - Trump 31.5%

It has politically geography like the state as well. The inland is conservative while the coast is liberal.

SB *County* is my hometown as well, the presence of Vandenburg Airforce Base and agriculture helps create the Northern part of the county being relatively Conservative. While the Santa Barbara area is a Progressive stronghold with a lot of highly educated voters and UCSB.

Ironically, it's home to Rancho del Cielo, President Reagan's Ranch.  It's also the only place in California I have ever been (apart from going to LAX to head back home).  Now, I was there for a conservative event, so the people I interacted with were definitely not representative of the county.

Also, CA-24, which is based in that county, was very close in the 2016 house race, but who knows if it will be again this year.
