Due to the influx of ultra-partisan trolls (special mention to that odious little prick Phillip) and the general decline in debate (even amoungst good posters) I'm giving serious thought to leaving.

Very good point. Wait until a week after the election. The number of regular posters will probably be cut in half.

I'm glad you decided to stay, Al.  I have thought about this and Ford is correct, the trolls will leave soon and then we can get back to the way things were.  I know that, even I have become guilty of declining personal standards, but that will change once the election is over, I think.

Just ignore the trolls, don't actually try to debate them.
Stay Al, you are a great member, and if you leave, the trolls will have won.

I get a little annoyed when people leave the forums, because they get emotional. Why do people get emotional on the internet? There's no reason. I don't know you; likewise, you don't know me. Can you honestly determine our emotions? Can you honestly determine anyone means the worst? Certainly if one gets annoying, you can complain to the adminsitrator. As a last solution, if you plan to leave, don't make a scene.

God, there are so many more important real life situations to get emotional about. Don't waste it on the web, please.

Don't go dude.  The trolls will lose interest after the elections.

Everybody will.

There will be hardly any posts from Jam 2005-midsummer 2006.

I think you are right, Boss. Those who are hard core Atlasians will be around, others will find more current topics to interest them.

I agree, please don't go Al, you are definitely one of my favorite posters of all here.

If good people leave, the trolls win. And yes, things are getting worse because it is election season. That tends to make people get more emotional and more partisan. Things will get a lot better after the election. So if you must leave due to the partisan rancor, come back on 11/03/2004. Smiley

(Come to think of it, maybe a week or two after the election...I'm sure whomever's party wins the election will spend a while gloating)

If the good people leave the forum will be in constant decline...and after the election we will lose a lot of trolls, to be sure.

Glad you're staying Al. Once the elections are over, given a month or two if things go crazy during the election, only the serious people will be left to post. Heck i'll actually be posting more after elections, since my election work will be done, but I'm an exception to the general rule vs. trolls that is.

Then when the campaign season heats up in 2007, I'll have my sup3r-l33t status as a forum ancient.

I don't think so. There will be less posts, but about 50 regulars will continue posting. We have a lot of people who post more on other boards than the 2004 presidential election. And think about what kind of aftermath there will be after the elections.

Al. You are the most important person in the forum's history. Don't leave us...ever...
