When you pass by a parked cop car clearly waiting to pull over speeding cars, do you flash your lights at the next few cars you seeing coming the other way (towards the cop) to warn them?

I love it.  It's actually probably saved me from a ticket more than once.  I've paid it forward many times, and will continue to exercise my freedom of speech to do so. Smiley

The police around here generally only pull you over if you’re speeding bad, and the people who do that are the old boomers and the faux rednecks who don’t signal, so I don’t either.

I've done it where there are unfair speed traps (e.g. the speed limit suddenly drops from 45 to 25 and the cop is hiding around the next bush).  I don't do it 100% of the time.

But a variant I do like: if I see an oncoming car speeding dangerously over the limit or weaving all over the road, I'll flash my lights even though there's no cop lurking, as a way to get them to slow down. Wink

I have, but I don't generally.  There has been a HUGE drop off in the number of cops patrolling for speed around here over the last 5 years, so I don't see it too often anyway.

(and thank Og, I used to regularly (like yearly) get speeding tickets, and I'm going on ~5 years now without one)

edit-I do flash cars who aren't passing in the passing lane though, maybe once every other week on average, I don't do that a lot.  Some people find it very aggressive for some reason, and I'm not keen on getting in fights at highway speeds.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no

I do always flash cars driving in the dark with no headlights though.  If I end up murdered as part of a gang initiation scheme, y'all will all know why

Only when I'm on the highway because the state police here are not much more than revenue generators.  They don't care about public safety just meeting their quotas and $$$$.  But on the highway I use the Waze app and if you get a ticket using that app you're just a dumb.

Yes.

Although it is technically illegal in WA to do so.

I did about two months ago and got a hand gesture in return. Tbf, I didn’t see if it was a wave or a bird. I don’t generally though since I’m not on rural two lane highways that much.

I don't drive, but I've not heard of this practice anyway.
