The really sad thing is that many people actually think a "government takeover" is happening.

Maybe not now but the original proposal certainly would have left the vast majority of care in the government's hand. Let's not forget that even as is the government subsidizes 60% of the health care industry already.. And that's going by UHC proponents numbers.

Yep.  And this limp-wristed plan they're talking about now is anything but.  

What a bunch of suckers these tea baggers are.  It's hard to imagine spending so much time, effort and money fighting for the rights of insurance companies.  Rubes.

That would be a fair charge if a lot of people weren't also protesting mandates and things like that. The reality is whatever you think of UHC the HMOs wouldn't be anywhere near what they are now without those. Of course there's plenty of 'get the government out of my medicare' type morons... But those are at every demonstration out there, it doesn't really matter what the cause is.
