Honestly a bad move.

Once vaccines are available to everyone, there is no reason to deny service to unvaccinated individuals, as anyone who wants can protect themselves from the infection.

So the welfare of others argument goes down the drain.

I have no problems with getting a vaccine that passes all safety standards, so it won't affect me, but I don't like the general deterioration of our rights across the globe.

Making people wear a mask is one thing, denying freedom of travel is another.

1. Private businesses can do what they want.

2. Have you ever heard of herd immunity?

1.

Well, not sure about that.

For example, here you cannot deny certain services if you are the only business providing them, e.g. the only supermarket in a few mile radius.

So if all airlines adopted this, it may be illegal here in Austria, although I just had 3 Law exams as part of my Business studies, so I really don't know much.

2. Herd immunity is not needed to protect yourself if you can get vaccinated.

As such, it eliminates the argument Herd immunity is necessary to protect others because they can protect themselves at any point.

Regardless, air travel is nowhere close to a monopoly.

Some people will be allergic to the vaccine and depend on everyone around them having it to stay safe.

Oh I know, but it might mean not every carrier would be allowed to adopt this policy, but I'd love for someone more knowledgable about EU / members law to jump in.

Also, Australia doesn't want people spreading Covid-19 around.

Also, Australia doesn't want people spreading Covid-19 around.

We have had the lowest numbers in the world and the highest levels of lockdown.

But they did get Melbourne back to zero which was impressive.

I cannot imagine Qantas will be alone in their decision. That was a statement made by the CEO which would require a global digital certificate system for vaccination.
