NYT map isn't letting me hover over counties or districts. Anyone else having this issue?

House Math Time from NYT
Rs have 212 seats called. They need 6 more.

AZ-06
CA-27
CA-45
CA-03
CA-22
CA-41
CA-13
CO-03
NY-22

HUGE RELIEF!

Lol, enjoy holding together a tiny majority with MTG and Tom Kean. Plus Biden can still confirm judges. And now he can blame the house when portions of his agenda don't get through.

This is a poisoned chalice.
I would rather he blame the GOP for his agenda not going through, then his agenda continuing to go through.

Winning the House is all that we needed to do because it means that any bill codifying Roe is DOA for at least two more years.

Senate woulda been nice, as much as I may disagree with your Roe position ER Tongue
Senate would be nice to control the judges, but at the end of the day every President gets to appoint lots of judges. Unless they are SCOTUS seats, giving Biden more liberal judges isn't ideal but nothing for Republicans to be deeply saddened about. At least Biden's agenda is pretty much over.

218 right now
CA-27 and CO-03 put it at 220
CA-22 would be 221
CA-13 would be 222
CA-47 would be 223 if Porter goes down somehow

Looks like Valadao and Porter are in good shape right now, although we are waiting for a lot more votes to trickle in. Assuming Boebert also holds on when its all said and done, we are looking at either 221-214 or 222-213 depending which way CA-13 breaks. Interestingly enough, 222R-213D would be a reverse of the post 2020 results which was 222D-213R.

Looks like Lee beat McMullin by just 10.6% when it was all said and done.

Looks like Orange county is all in?
Despite voting NO on the recall by 3 points, Dahle has defeated Newsom here by 3 points. Not only that but it looks like Meuser will narrowly carry it in the senate race against Padilla. I honestly think Democrats are maxed out in California with 2018 being their peak. Republicans have slowly gained back some lost ground from that point, and counties like Fresno and Riverside coming back into the Republican corner (albeit narrowly). If Duarte wins it would be the first election cycle since 1998 where Rs gain a house seat in the state.

It certainly won't be a competitive state anytime soon, but Republicans darkest days seem to be over.

David Valadao winning makes me so happy

Votes to impeach Trump

Survives primary

Wins re-election despite redistricting making his seat bluer

What a great thing to see
Kevin McCarthy was begging and pleading Trump not to get involved in CA-22 because of how blue a seat Valadao holds. Also unlike other Rs like Cheney and Kinzinger the guy basically shut up about Jan 6 and focused on local issues. I think the closeness of Jan 6 to the impeachment vote had an impact of more Rs voting for it than expected. If the impeachment vote was held maybe even a week or so later, I think that number falls down from 10.

Georgia is still trickling in a little bit, but Warnock would have needed 22,407 more votes to avoid a runoff. Perdue in 2020 needed 46,529 more.

The FiveThirtyEight forecast going against Peltola was one of their biggest fails of this cycle.

In general the House forecast was no better than the 2020 presidential forecast, yet I haven’t seen as much ink spilled on why it nearly got it very wrong.
The forecast wasn't going against Peltola per se, it's just their engine was unable to account for RCV properly which made it off.

Looks like 222-213 has been confirmed. Not that good for Rs, but it gives them a lot more wiggle room than just 218 or 219 seats.

Looks like NC actually did vote to the left of Georgia in the total house vote. Every race was contested in both states.
