Just watched the Seventh film, and I have to say, it is pretty damn good and faithful to the novel (well as far as you can be faithful on a movie anyways).

What threw me off was Emma and Daniel's little tryst scene...I knew it was coming, but I didn't expect it to be that intimate! Tongue

Superb acting on all parts.Smiley

Easy A

This was definitely one of the better teen comedies in the last decade. Of course it's hard to believe that a hot redhead with a nice rack like Emma Stone would be so ignored and unpopular, but it was full of clever writing and actually good acting.

The Untouchables

Kind of silly and kind of mindless, but excellent nonetheless. Probably the most intense film I've ever seen.

I got dragged to Harry Potter and the Magical Maguffins by my boyfriend. Having never read any of the books, nor seen any of the movies, this was what I got:

There's this evil guy who doesn't have a nose who I guess is trying to take over the world. (He even has his very own Legion of Doom.) Harry Potter is the Chosen One, whatever that means, and therefore a target of all the evil magical people in the world. He has to run away from them, while also looking for some magical maguffins that are a source of the evil guy's power, I guess, and (totally unlike any other fantasy franchise made into a series of hit movies recently) when you have one in your possession it tends to corrupt you. Meanwhile, the wizard infrastructure has been taken over by evil guy's thugs who are basically magic Nazis, because they believe in racial purity and superiority over non-magical types. Oh, and the titular Deathly Hallows finally get a mention in the last 20 minutes or so.

It was a well-made movie, except with the action scenes it was often impossible to tell what's going on. It didn't make me want to read the books or anything, though.

The Room

Never laughed so hard in my life. Easily the worst movie I have ever seen, I can't believe the guy who made this actually considers this a serious movie.

He doesn't anymore. I think he's actually claimed now that it was supposed to be a joke all along although people who know him don't seem to believe that. Anyway, you should watch the episode of Tim and Eric that he's on. Pretty hilarious.

American History X. Quite disturbing in many ways, but it has a good moral.

Youth in Revolt.

This was a pretty funny movie in an odd way and worked well as a straight deconstruction of "rebellious teenagers". Michael Cera's character's alternate personality was actually rather convincing as a non-Michael Cera-ish character though I doubt he'll be playing any non-Michael Cera-ish characters for still quite awhile.

Hot Tub Time Machine

It was rather stupid but had some pretty funny moments. Worth watching for cheap or free.

I'm trying to watch a crazy trippy movie tonight, any suggestions?  I'm thinking Eraserhead or The Holy Mountain at this point, but I like newer movies better generally.

I went with Holy Mountain.  Weirdest shit ever...

Cachorro, or Bear Cub, a nice Spanish movie about manly gays helping to raise a young boy.  Lovely story which is also fairly even handed with the straights involved, but likely to raise the ire of the jmfcsts.

It's kind of funny you mention Titanic; his character is similar in both films.

I think he owes the IRS money so I would think he just takes any role.  I remember reading he was in some Turkish anti American blockbuster.  I thought he was good in Dead Calm but that was over 20 years ago.
