I got home late last night and i was pretty tired so i went straight to bed Sad

The bad news is that even if i had been here, i would only be able to save Zapata or Havel, not both Tongue

I would have saved Havel by the way.

Oh, you don't tell us all the story ! Wink

Would you have killed Abd el-Krim or FDR to save Havel ?

RESULTS OF ROUND 58

2 very different groups: a fierce fight between Pearson and Mossadegh, a clear victory for Arias.
These fights between second-rate made me sigh on biggies who are gone now... Wink

Group Alpha: Arias 6, Schuman 3, Lloyd George 1, Marshall 1, Einstein 1

Exhausted (and now eliminated) peacemaker.

Group Omega: Pearson 7, Mossadegh 5

Revolutionary man, still today: he smokes !

I guess I'll have to boycott this round out of protest at the elimination of an epic FF.

RESULTS OF ROUND 59

A surprisingly fierce fight between Mossadegh and... Jaurès !
And an uncertain fight between Lloyd George and Schuman, until the end and the wonderful vote of Hash ! Ouf !

Of course, for the record of "votes gotten in previous rounds", I'll count only the "eliminate" votes, i.e.:
Schuman 4
Jaurès 2, Mandela 1, Rathenau 1.

Up to this round 59, the totals are:

group Alpha
Schuman 11.5 /
Nagy 6.33 / Soares 6 / Einstein 5.5 / Marshall 5 /
Gorbachev 2.5 / Gandhi 2 /
Attlee 0 / MLK 0 / Mendès-France 0

group Omega
Roosevelt 8 /
Abd el-Krim 5.67 / Walesa 4.5 / Mandela 4 /
Rathenau 3 / Jaurès 2 /
Cardenas 0 / Dubcek 0 / Palme 0 / Brandt 0

Group Alpha: Lloyd George +3, Schuman +2, Gorbachev -1, Soares -1, Nagy -1, Einstein -2

Wizard and Devil.

Group Omega: Mossadegh +2 (5 in previous rounds), Jaurès +2 (0 in previous rounds), Rathenau +1, Mandela 0, Walesa -1, Brandt -4

I've made a mistake in my Excel file with all the rules and thought there were still one round in stage 3...
Too much Bordeaux wine, maybe...

Anyway, we are now entering our final stage, with the Top 20 !

We'll have far less "special rules" (just 3 of them and no "bring back" rule, sorry Lewis Wink).
So, we'll first eliminate, one by one, 15 leaders.
Then, except if you show your outraged angriness, I plan to make you vote, among the top 5, for the leader you want to see win. So, 3 leaders will then fall, one by one (the lowest total of votes in each round).

When we've got our 2 final names, we'll first give the Bronze Medal, among the first 3 eliminated in the top 5 (because they are eliminated by default, there may be a surprise for the Bronze Medal, among Nrs. 3, 4 and 5).

Then, we'll eventually have our big finale, to give Silver and Gold Medals.

Is that clear ?

Oh, and for your clear information, here is the complete list of biggest vote-getters:

Schuman 11.5
Roosevelt 8
Nagy 6.33
Soares 6
Abd el-Krim 5.67
Einstein 5.5
Marshall 5
Walesa 4.5
Mandela 4
Rathenau 3
Gorbachev 2.5
Gandhi 2
Jaurès 2
Attlee 0
Brandt 0
Cardenas 0
Dubcek 0
MLK 0
Mendès-France 0
Palme 0

By country:

France: 3 (always this big bias Wink but without de Gaulle, my Godness !)
Germany: 3 (with Einstein)
USA: 3 (without Einstein)
USSR-Russia: 1
Hungary: 1
Poland: 1
Czechoslovakia-Slovakia: 1 (Dubcek was a Slovak)
UK: 1
Portugal: 1
Sweden: 1
Mexico: 1
Morocco: 1
South Africa: 1
India: 1

By decade (the most prominent one of each history maker - I know, it's uneasy to decide):

1900s: 0
1910s: 1
1920s: 2
1930s: 1
1940s: 4
1950s: 4
1960s: 2
1970s: 3
1980s: 3
1990s: 1

I must say that, with this new stage, I haven't PMed our occasional voters.

I'm a bit fed up with doing this (and maybe they are also Wink).

And I think it's better, now that we are in the final top 20, to remain "among us", regular voters, those who deserve to oust and to pick !

Anyway, reading the list again, I really miss many guys...
de Gaulle
Theodore Roosevelt
Eisenhower
Adenauer
Churchill
John Paul II

and Beria, Peron and Lawrence as weird outsiders Wink

You are entirely free to vote as you wish, each time, from time to time or never... Wink

That's just I haven't PMed AGAIN to recall people to vote.

RESULTS OF ROUND 60

A "peaceful" first round for this new and final stage, with a clear victory for Soares.

No real big contender emerges after him.

Our seven "virgins" received no vote again Wink.

Final stage: Soares 6, Marshall 2, Abd el-Krim 1, Nagy 1, Einstein 1

Well, he says what he thinks of us... "I've made it to the final stage ! Nah !"

RESULTS OF ROUND 61

After a "peaceful" first round for this new and final stage, things are heating up a bit, with a fierce race between Marshall, Roosevelt and Abd el-Krim.

Now that Marshall is ousted, will Rossevelt be really threatened ? Is Abd el-Krim the new big contender ? Or will previously threatened guys re-emerge, after having surprisingly disappeared ?

And one of our "seven virgins" received a vote ! (Cardenas)

Final stage: Marshall 4, Abd el-Krim 3, Roosevelt 3, Einstein 1, Cardenas 1

George takes it easy...
It's no longer an East-West divide, but a Top-Down divide...

Xahar, please convince me why should Abd el-Krim be so good. Everything I have read about him is not really bad, but gives me no explanation why do you stand on it.

RESULTS OF ROUND 62

Due to this special rule, the round have been very fierce.
And Schuman, who surprisingly made it through the first 2 rounds of this stage, is eventually ousted.

Jaurès is a close second and Abd el-Krim a distant third.

Of course, I won't take into account all the points but will divide them by 3 in order to update the tallies of votes already gotten.

Final stage: Schuman 18, Jaurès 16, Abd el-Krim 10, Roosevelt 6, Cardenas 5, Gorbachev 5, Walesa 4, Einstein 3, Rathenau 3, Nagy 2

Hmm... at current Walesa is out, but a single vote against Gorbachev, Jaurès or Einstein would save him. Fascinating.

RESULTS OF ROUND 63

What a round !
Probably the most open one so far.

A 3-way tie, but Einstein wasn't so far away either and one vote for him would have resulted in his ousting.
And a second French ousted in 2 rounds: if there was a bias, it no longer exists... Wink

And for the rounds to come, very hard to say anything as all this is very fluid.

Final stage: Jaurès 3 (7.33 in previous rounds), Walesa 3 (5.83 in previous rounds), Gorbachev 3 (4.17 in previous rounds), Einstein 2, Rathenau 1

Petrified.

RESULTS OF ROUND 64

Sorry to have let you down for almost 4 days... Quite busy in real life and in... Atlasia.

So, this survivor is back, with very, very, very sad news for me: Gorbachev is out.
Well, he was one of my favourite.
Those who haven't not lived just before Gorbachev and during his term can't understand.
What would have occurred without him ? Imagine a man able to think in a different way in such a system. And he was almost alone in the Politburo: even Iakovlev and Shevardnadze weren't so reformist.
Of course, all went bad after 1990, but he remains a big history maker.

Final stage: Gorbachev 5, Abd el-Krim 3, Walesa 2, Roosevelt 1

Ousted again and in a bad way again.

RESULTS OF ROUND 65

In a very low turnout (Sad), Abd el-Krim is at last ousted !
But almost the tiniest possible result: 3 votes and a tie...
Abd el-Krim has become our second Gavrilo Princip Wink.

I've warned you we won't have special rules very often in this round.
We have 2 real special rounds left.
I say "real" because, for the top 5, there will be a vote TO KEEP, not to eliminate, and, as a consequence, there will be a little surprise to keep the suspense until the very end (don't worry, I won't pick a new top 5 with de Gaulle, Churchill, Gorbachev, Adenauer and Beria Wink).

Final stage:Abd el-Krim 3 (16 in previous rounds), Mandela 3 (4 in previous rounds), Roosevelt 2, Walesa 1

Take a seat and let's lead a rebellion against this forum !

RESULTS OF ROUND 66

Rathenau is out: not a great surprise, even if he received no vote in the previous round.

Roosevelt is becoming a really big vote-getter, but it seems as if there is a "stealth" majority not to oust him soon.
Will Einstein come back in this round, after having been unseen for some rounds ?
Will one of the Happy Six receive, at last, one vote ?
(I must say Dubcek and even Attlee without any vote are 2 surprises)

Here are the biggest vote-getters so far:
Roosevelt 18
Walesa 13.83
Einstein 10.5
Mandela 9
Nagy 8
Cardenas 2.67
Gandhi 2
Attlee 0
Brandt 0
Dubcek 0
MLK 0
PMF 0
Palme 0

The only country now represented by 2 history makers is the United States... Back to basics...

Final stage: Rathenau 4, Mandela 2, Roosevelt 2, Walesa 2

Nice socks !
