I would not trust the police with guns even if they had training.

Apparently though it's perfectly fine to trust them to have batons.

Perfectly fine?  His point in posting that image was that they can barely be trusted with batons either.

Quite so. Just imagine what would have happened during (for example) the Miners Strike if the police had guns. It was bad enough as it was, as that photo neatly shows...

Yeah, I don't trust the police.

Sorry, I was being a bit facetious, thought that was obvious. Tongue

Anywho, the fact is you aren't advocating that they shouldn't have batons. (or are you?) Better to use an example of when they misused guns. (of which there are plenty)

Also, you can't say for sure that it would have been worse if they had guns. It may have been, but it's entirely possible they may have exercised more restraint if they had lethal weapons. Or it could have been exactly the same and they would have stuck with batons and not used their guns. I'm not exactly familiar with the incident in question. If you want a valid comparison you should check on similar incidents where the police had firearms as an option and see what they did, preferably within a similar timeframe since attitudes towards large strikes and whatnot have changed over time.

Then explain why the founders talked about natural rights.

Because they wrongly thought natural rights exist.

Well you're a social communist, why should I care what you and your ilk think?

By that logic why should you care what anyone else thinks? Should he dismiss you as well if he disagrees with you?
