Nay.

I don't know why TexasGurl and Jake voted the way they did, but here's my reasoning.  As the original sponsor of the bill, I withdrew it when the Senate was moving slowly and I was in a hurry to get more important legislation on the floor by removing 'fluff' legislation that was insignificant.  I still hold that this bill is unnecessary and will likely not be looked back as a great accomplishment by this Senate.  Regardless, I have come to the conclusion that it is not a good idea to continue creating federal holidays; we have enough, if not too many, as it currently stands.  So I have voted accordingly.

5-3-1 abstention. I assume unless someone changes his mind until Al gets around to closing it, this passes. Al's the only one to not have voted, btw.

With three days to go, it doesn't seem terribly likely that we'll get through anything else in this Senate session.

There are plenty of federal holidays that we have inherited from the RL US that could be abolished. Columbus Day and Martin Luther King Day come to mind immediately.

I am aware.  Before abolishing any existing federal holidays, though, I'd prefer we not add any more new ones to the list.

(Apologies for not seeing this sooner.  I only read the third page of the thread, and hadn't realized that this had already been voted on.)

Thank you, Mr. President.  While I agree that this isn't needed, I think it helps create a more enjoyable atmosphere for the game.
