This is a meaningless non-binding resolution yes, but it is a statement against medical marijuana. Remember, marijuana only for medical purposes. Sponsored by a fascist currently running for Governor of Florida who it looks like might lose the primary though might I add. But it passed overwhelmingly, 310-93. That really shows just how much progress has been made, back then less than a hundred House members were willing to not condemn MEDICAL marijuana, now it has over 80% popular support and legalization proposals are taken seriously. I wonder how many people in 1998 thought we would've made such progress in 12 years.

Major props by the way to the Massachusetts delegation.

Oh for those interested the Republican Nay votes were:

Tom Campbell (R-CA-15)
Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA-45)
Nancy Johnson (R-CT-6)
John Porter (R-IL-10)
Connie Morella (R-MD-8)
Ron Paul (R-TX-14)

There's really only six. It lists seven, but that's because it inaccurately lists George Miller of California as a Republican.

This vote is an excellent example of why the California GOP screwed up really badly by not nominating Tom Campbell this year.

He doesn't hate gays.

Never had Rohrabacher down as much of a moderate or maverick... personal pet issue?

He has a few libertarian-leanings. He's come in favor of full legalization actually.
