WMS, who do you think would have been a better nominee for the Democrats? Romero had two chances and did badly (he lost every county twice), and the Secretery of State (I forget her name) has far bigger ethics poblems than Madrid.
Believe it or not, I think Romero would be doing better than Madrid. He just ran in the wrong elections. Also, he suffered from some of the machine faction Dems opposing him due to some turmoil in the state legislature a few years back.
You are quite right about the Secretary of State.
Hmmm...the best candidate, ABQ Mayor Chavez, wants to be Governor in 2010. Or Senator in 2008. Depends on the circumstances.
Looking over the officials...the two West Side ABQ Councillors would've been decent (Michael Cadigan and Ken Sanchez) but Cadigan wants to be ABQ Mayor in 2009 and I'm not sure what Sanchez is aiming for given he was only elected last year.
Parochial, me?
Looking around...there are good moderate Dems...outside CD-1.
WAY too many lefties in ABQ. Tom Swisstack in Rio Rancho-based House District 60 would be decent.
Sh!t, James Lewis (the Dem State Treasurer candidate) would've been good too, but he's busy salvaging that race for the Dems.
I might have missed some noble soul who isn't in office right now...
