Daniels is correct.  These Saul Alinsky radicals only name-call and divide us.

Daniels makes Romney look like Reagan. This is better than melatonin!

Did Daniels practice this speech at all?  There have been several jokes he's read over the course of this thing that he read like he had no idea they were not serious sentences.

That might be the most monotone speech I've ever heard.

But it was a good speech. It managed to balance many interests while maintaining a distinctly nonpartisan tone.

To the establishment:

The dream lives on (about a Daniels candidacy).

I think Daniels sounded reasonable and measured.

You need to play President forever, on easy, and play as Romney. Hopefully it'll help you purge this and you can re-join us in the real world

President Forever? President Elect 1988 is where it's at.

He'd have to start on the general campaign and skip the primaries. He'd start using the general map from the beginning and just get walloped in the primaries.

Back in the day, I got Ted Kennedy elected over Ronald Reagan in 1980 via a tiebreaker in the House after a 269-269 EC. That takes mad skills in that game. It is impossible to beat Ronald Reagan in 1984, though. You can play flawlessly with anybody against him, even JFK in ahistorical mode, but you won't even come close.

Obama is a good speaker, but seems like he's rehashing alot of the stuff from the last SOTU.

Yes, it was a State of the Union. Obama unfortunately lacks exclusive magical lawmaking powers.

After tonight, I''ll put Mitt Romney's odds of getting even 220 EVs at 0%.

Most of America is not going to be fooled by his smooth-talking ways again.

I agree.  Romney's screwed.

It is becoming more and more obivous to people, expect Politico and NHI that Barack Obama is on whole different level then Mitt Romney.

It is like choosing between Tom Brady and Alex Smith.........

The only people this speech will inspire are those whose vote were never really in doubt. To the undecided, this kind of speech does nothing.

I don't think I'm allowed to. Long story short, he had become a big Mitt fan in the past few days, but was very impressed by the State of the Union speech. I leave it at that.

Yeah, he was getting in the zone there. I take back what I said earlier, this was at least moderately impressive rhetorically.
