A BILL
To prohibit the use of taxpayer funds for sports stadiums, arenas, or other such venues.
Be it enacted by the Assembly of the Northeast Region convened.
SECTION 1. TITLE
This legislation may be cited as the 'Responsible Sports Act'
SECTION 2. PROFESSIONAL SPORTS STADIUMS
Be it that the economic benefit of owning and operating a major sports venue is proven to be unsubstantial in relation to the cost.
1. The subsidization of improvements to or construction of major sports arenas including but not limited to the facilities located in Foxborough, East Rutherford, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Orchard Park shall thus be banned.
2. Member teams of the four largest leagues, the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL, shall henceforth be required to include clauses in their leases to remain in their current locations throughout the course of their contracts. No early terminations will be lawful.
3. If an organization wishes to build and maintain a facility of their own, there right shall remain to do so.
4. Currently held properties of the Northeast shall be sold to the organization as soon as legally possible.
SECTION 3. CONVENTION FACILITIES
1. Convention facilities will be permitted to remain under the ownership of the Northeast and future projects shall remain lawful.
