I mean, if Democrats chant O-Ba-Ma, and Republicans chant U-S-A, am I alone in thinking that reflects better on one group than the other...

"I have a plan to create 12 million jobs in four years!"
What is it Mitt?

Not be Barack Obama.

Wow, I didn't know I had the power to create 12 million jobs in 4 years.

Well, if you were elected president and immediately decided to become a full-time hermit in Bhutan, we'd probably see modest improvements.

Why do Republicans always talk about returning to some mythological wonderland of the past?

Mitt's right. In early 2009 there was no deficit, the economy was booming, we were at peace, the country was united in purpose, dogs and cats found common ground, unicorns danced on the streets paved with gold

Man those were the good old days, I remember I had health care insurance through my parents' plan thanks to Bushcare, it sucks that Obama repealed it.

Eek. That speech was a whole lot of nothing. Maybe they should have just played the video about his background instead. That was a lot more interesting.

I'm getting choppy, choppy reception. From what I've seen though, he's doing a fantastic job distancing himself from the fringe right and appealing to the demographics he's got to appeal to. He's being awfully personal, which is what everyone's been saying he should do. Very humanizing speech.

Count on the Dems to parade into this thread and troll his speech though. People are forgetting that all Mitt really needs to do is make himself look like a viable alternative to Obama. He's countering the attacks from the Obama camp pretty well: "Mitt Romney cares" isn't a bad angle to play on.

I came in here to defend the speech. It didn't seem all that bad to me, but it just keeps getting worse. The USA chants give me bubble guts and I find myself constantly wondering how much of this Romney even believes.

He doesn't believe most of it.  Most of it is red meat, GOTV language like most convention speeches.  The only difference with Mitt is that...and I've been watching political and nomination speeches for more than 30 years...this is just lame.  Lame.  Reagan was an over-the-moon great speaker, moving and inspiring.  Bush 41 was a decent speaker.  Bush 43 was someone you could identify with.  McCain was a genuine American hero.  Mitt sucks.  An into cheerleading American business followed by a litany of complaints that are just boilerplate nonsense and most of which have policy implications that, if elected, he won't even follow.  If this guy gets elected, even worse than his policy agenda, I'll actually have to listen to him for at least four years...and hope to lose my hearing on top of my eyesight.  Lame.  Jesus.  Lame.

The speech, imo, sucked. Sorry but it did. I praised Ryan after his speech and it's not like I'm an Obama lover or anything. This was, at best, a standard Romney speech. That's not a good thing.

Very humanizing.  He will be more likable.

I think he needed to be more visionary.

The problem for Obama is, he has a record.
