This thread focuses on the happenings of the 2023-24 NHL season.

Vegas Golden Knights won their first ever Lord Stanley trophy by beating Florida Panthers 4 games to 1 to win the Stanley Cup for the 2022-23 season.

Connor Bedard went #1st overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, selected by the Chicago Blackhawks.

The NHL All-Star Game will be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on February 3rd, 2024 at Scotiabank Area.

The Winter Classic will be held on January 1st, 2024 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle between the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights. The Stadium Series will be held on two different dates: February 17th between the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils for New Jersey supremacy, and February 18th between the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders for New York City bragging rights. Both Stadium Series games will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Who do you predict as your Division winners or your Stanley Cup winner?

Brian Boucher is headed to TNT to be part of the NHL on TNT crew. Boucher's arrival at TNT reunites the #1 NHL on NBC crew of him, Kenny Albert, and Eddie Olczyk in its final season (the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season).

Awful Announcing:
Quote
TNT’s NHL coverage is getting the band back together.

The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported Tuesday that Brian Boucher will join TNT as its “between the benches” analyst, reuniting with his former NBC teammates, Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk, in the process. He’ll fill the position that was opened up when Keith Jones became the Philadelphia Flyers President of Hockey Operations.

[...]

Boucher gives TNT a recognizable game analyst. He played in the NHL (from 1999-2013) and has been a notable media figure since his playing career. At the start of the 2015-26 NHL season, Boucher joined NBC Sports as an “Inside the Glass” reporter and studio analyst. From 2018 to 2021, he worked as an “Inside the Glass” reporter with the lead broadcast team of Mike Emrick and Eddie Olcyzk. He shared the role with McGuire, who he eventually replaced. And Albert eventually replaced Emrick as the lead play-by-play voice following the latter’s retirement announcement in October 2020.

As per Marchand, while Boucher’s main role will be between the benches, he additionally could be utilized for some studio work.

Connor Bedard made his Blackhawks debut tonight, as he scored a hat trick against their biggest rivals in the St. Louis Blues at the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. His First official NHL game will be the first regular season game the Hawks play.

I could see this team being playoff spot contenders. We're still far away from being Western Conference champions-worthy, let alone Stanley Cup-worthy.

ESPN and ESPN+ had Frozen Frenzy last night, in which game start times were staggered every 15 minutes.

Blues and Coyotes were scoring at will, but St. Louis got the win and the 2 points as the Blues won 6-5.

Blues end Craig Berube's tenure as head coach.

The Blues should be game misconducting Doug Armstrong out of his job first before Craig Berube.

Thanks for getting us our first Stanley Cup trophy, Chief Berube.

The St. Louis Blues, hosting Pride Night, scored 3 of their 4 goals in the space of 32 seconds in the 2nd period in their 4-0 win over the Islanders.

Traveled to Columbus last night to see my beloved pens play the blue jackets. But they lost in the shootout. Well I'm glad they at least took a point home the Blue Jackets are not a team they shouldn't walk away with at least two points against. My summary of the game is it was two teams trying to prove which one was slightly less bad. Looks like the Pens aren't going to make the playoffs for another year in a row.

Will be interesting to see if Crosby plays 1, 2, 3 or 4 more seasons, and which team he plays for in those seasons. Pens will trade him if he asks for it, also he is a free agent next summer.

If Crosby leaves, management will probably sit down with Malking, Letang and Karlsson and see who wants to stay and who wants to be traded to a playoff team.

Crosby is a franchise player. He will never ever leave the pens. 98% plus sure

Likely not Malkin either. I think he also stays a Penguin until he retires.

The players on the Arizona Coyotes roster have been told that they'll be relocating to Salt Lake City in Utah, effective next season.

Emily Kaplan at ESPN.com:
Quote
Arizona Coyotes players were informed Friday that the team is relocating to Utah, sources told ESPN, confirming a report by PHNX Sports.

Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong met with the players ahead of their game against the Edmonton Oilers to confirm what had been rumored all week: that the NHL is working to facilitate a sale to Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of the Utah Jazz. The Coyotes will begin playing there next season.

The NHL and Smith's group have been working on a deal, but sources told ESPN on Friday night that nothing was done yet, and there was plenty of work to go before the deal was finalized.

An announcement is expected next week, at the conclusion of the NHL regular season, sources told ESPN.
