For the first time in my life, I will vote Republican
« on: July 11th 1896 at 1:00:00pm »

Democrats have always been the party of less government intervention in the economy, so I’ve always been a Democrat, but Bryan wants more intervention in the economy than McKinley, so I will vote for McKinley. If the Democrats keep going in a Bryanite direction, I’ll switch parties.

I could see OSR being a Mugwump but I can't see him being a Dem before at least 1876.

Yah more likely I would be a Republican for Cleveland but from 1856-1872 I would be solidly GOP , from 1876-1892 probably a swing voter since there wasnt that much difference between the parties then yah id go back to solid gop in 1896

Prez Truman threw A-Bomb and Japan subsequently surrendered, same as Germany who never had A-Bomb due to Hitler dying in bunker. MR. HARRY TRUNAN (S-MO) is a WAR PREZ like Lincoln and forced AA desegregation.

Dewey just gets 45 per cent like last time when he lost to war prez MR. SOCIALIST F.D. ROOSEVELT. Its a 303 map anyways. Dewey is done.

Truman is going to lose, no president can win without NY. The state is 100% in Dewey’s column after the desegregation order by Truman. He literally committed political suicide with this action. I’m hearing all over the salons on Long Island that suburban voters revolt against mixed race armed forces. Many veterans from WWII that served in Germany and the Pacific Theater are upset. They didn’t fight and liberate Europe and Japan to now serve in the same battalions with negroes. Even many negro people refusing to serve with white people. I’m not saying male negroes shouldn’t serve in military, they should, might even deserve higher ranks. But that has lost him NY. Where can he win, with the South is going for Thurmond? Democrats must stay away from race mixing issues, disavow Truman for his order if they want to win again.

While the race was always going to slightly tighten towards the end, but if you believe Truman has any shot of winning key battlegrounds with 2 (!) more D-candidates to his left AND right, you’re delusional. Dewey also has experience in running for president from 1944, which he was never going to win. He learned his lessons. Now he’s nationally known and picked a VP that pretty much locks up California. So, where’s Truman’s path? There was never one after mid-1946. The guy’s an accident of history and nobody will remember him in 5 years.

Dewey is going to clear 300 Electoral Votes and an absolute majority of the popular vote. The poll might nail the final result.

The trendline is clear. Truman’s campaigning style is paying off. Even Trashfalgar can’t find a double digit lead anymore; Gallup was +5 from over a week ago. The race is probably tied now and Truman’s gonna pull ahead just in time next week.

Dewey is a completely uninspiring candidate and the Republican congress is increasingly unpopular after Truman called their bluff after that fantastic DNC speech.

LOL, you realize GOV Warren also ran on secular D-ticket in 1946. As a result, CA isnt safe for Rs. Prez Truman approvals are not 35(57 and ROOSEVELT won CA every election.

TRUMAN called for special session of congress and Rs didnt do anything anyways. 1946 midterm R win was 1 hit wonder.

As if we needed more confirmation that Truman is finished. He got stonewalled by the Do-Nothing-Congress for 2 years and will be voted out. I expect the Democratic Party to dissolve into a minor party, with Wallace and Thurmond forming new national parties. Republicans will control the presidency for the remainder of this century. RIP New Deal. It was fun while lasted.

Dems dragged the economy out of depression and won a world war, yet people elect Republicans back to office. What a pathetic country this is.

If Truman gets more than 100 electoral votes, he will leave this forum forever.

It really amazes me how you guys live in denial because Truman has *slightly* gained in a Trafalgar poll 5 days before the election (which is actually just statistical noise), while he’s still down by more than 6, is virtually trailing in every single battleground state and has approvals underwater by double digits. This is going to be blowout and the election mafia will be in total shambles once the votes start coming in. But I bet we’re going through the same again in 1952 when y’all insist President Dewey’s reelection is doomed and he’s just Hoover 2.0. Spoiler: It won’t, and Truman is Hoover 2.0.

Of course, you might ignore all of these disastrous numbers because FDR got lucky in 1932/36 with the depression, and only won 2 more terms due to the war (even then, he nearly lost congress in 1942). 1932 was not realignment election by that definition. 1946 was, when the Republican Party regained its pre-1932 majority status. Now that both the war and depression are over, with a historically unpopular, unelected president like Truman, there is literally no reason to vote Democratic anymore. Not even the South will this election, as Thurmond is taking the remaining air out of Truman’s failing campaign. Let alone Wallace costing him more votes on the left. Anyone who doesn’t see the writing on the wall that Truman is completely finished will it learn their lesson the hard way. At this point, I’d be shocked if he even gets triple digit electoral votes.

The Republicans are also poised to expand their congressional majorities with Truman dragging many Democrats down. 1946 was a perfect preview for that; yet the election mafia still points at wartime elections for comparison when Roosevelt was on the ballot. You clowns are really beyond saving.

Yea, stick a fork in it. There’s some tightening, sure, but it won’t be enough to save Truman. He’s still down in all other pollsters by mid-single digits. President Dewey it is. Hopefully we can preserve major parts of the New Deal.

The fact I am not in that thread to talk about how Dewey is going to turn us into a communist dictatorship after he wins 40 states is such a missed opportunity.

Then again I easily could have been a Dewey supporter so it’s hard to say.

The admin team has dispatched a new moderator, Francisco de Bobadilla, to investigate the charges of tyranny and incompetence on the part of James Polumbus in the Hispaniola colony. He will make landfall and begin his inquiries in the coming months. I know that emotions are running high right now, but I would urge everyone to stay calm and please wait while the mod team sorts this situation out.

Regardless of JamesPolumbus' alleged crimes, I think it's important that we remember that these native savages are not saints. I don't condone any of Polumbus' actions on Hispaniola, but we need to push back against this narrative that the Taino people are sainted figures that are somehow beyond reproach. I have no doubt that people on here would be coming up with excuses and singing a different tune if the natives of the New World were to sail east across the ocean, colonize Spain, and rape and pillage native Spaniards. Grave-dancing is an established practice on this forum, unfortunately.

Clearly this isn't going far enough. Every Spaniard on Hispaniola should be brought back to the native country in irons, and then clubbed and skinned alive before being burned at the stake. This is a fairly modest punishment for what's been happening in the New World. There are no innocents on this voyage, and they should all be made accountable for Polumbus' crimes.

So once again, the mods are going after JamesPolumbus for his actions in the New World and not Leif Fergusson.

Lief Fergusson is the most detestable user on this site. He has done and said some of the lowest things I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing on a forum. Despite all this, Leif Fergusson continues to get "credit" for "discovering" the New World before JamesPolumbus. He continues to post on this site and receive accolades despite never once making contact with any natives in the New World. How is his "discovery" even comparable to that of JamesPolumbus?

This is an injustice of the highest order and nothing short of clear moderator bias in favor of Norsemen and against Italian explorers. I am literally shaking and crying as I type this. I cannot and will not tolerate this endless abuse of moderator power any longer. History is truly written by the victors.

I think you're right, sadly. The adventurers will also bring back all types of pestilence from the New World and spread it across Europe. We will all suffer a series of plagues far worse than even the Black Death, until all of society collapses. Churches will burn, civic buildings will crumble, and great statues and paintings will fall into disrepair. It will be like the demise of Rome all over again, but this time much worse, and likely leading to the ultimate demise of the human species.

Andriy is biased so his opinion should not matter, not should any Ukrainians or Russians. To have a truly neutral objective view of the conflict, you can't be blinded by attachment to one of the countries involved.
Also, much of western media is littered with Ukrainian/pro-West propaganda so that could cause even Americans to be biased but lets not be that strict. Almost all media is either biased to be pro-Russia or pro-Ukraine, and each side calls anything not exactly in their best interest propaganda of the other.

Also, much of western media is littered with Jewish/pro-Allied propaganda so that could cause even Americans to be biased but lets not be that strict. Almost all media is either biased to be pro-Nazi or pro-Jewish, and each side calls anything not exactly in their best interest propaganda of the other.

Will the colonies lose the war for independence?
« on: August 29, 1777, 6:12:34 pm »

I sure hope Britain wins. I mean, slavery has been abolished in England for centuries, while most of our colonies still allow it! Our most progressive, liberal politicians would be considered as conservatives in England and most of Europe.

BREAKING: Napoleon surrenders, sent to Exile in St. Helena

To be honest, I think all of our presidents deserve the same fate, maybe even worse. Considering America’s invasion of the Northwestern Indian Confederacy, and all the others acts of imperialism the USA has engaged in with Native Americans, we deserve France-level condemnation.

When will the Union win the Civil War?
« on: November 12, 1864, 7:08:12 pm »

Never.

Or, alternatively, when the United States ceases to exist at all. I’ll let you interpret that for yourself.

If Teddy Roosevelt wins in 1916, will he invade Canada?
« on: March 19, 1915, 2:02:56 pm »

I’m being completely serious here. He supported the Spanish American War back in ‘98 and many Republicans are on record saying that Germany’s conduct in this war have been impressive. And given how many Republicans have been reluctant to want to give aid to Britain in the war, I think Roosevelt (or another Republican) may try to invade Canada if they win in the future.

How much aid should the USA give to the Allies?
« on: January 22, 1940, 10:36:45 pm »

As much as possible. When the Republicans win in 1940 (and let’s face it, Roosevelt has no chance- there’s never been a 3 term president before) they will side with Hitler, and it’ll be over for France and the UK. This is the only shot for the Allies to win.

Opinion of Dear Leader's Latest Speech
« on: February 16, 2023, 8:30:25 am »

In my humble opinion, Esteemed And Scholarly Leader Kim Jong Un's latest speech, Demonstrate to the Full the Might of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League on the Historic March towards a Fresh Victory in the Revolution, is perhaps His greatest work ever and the greatest literary work of all time. I wept glistening tears of resplendent joy at the voice of our Mighty Leader as He outlined our path to final victory over the decadent and trifling west.

Really? Every time Dear Leader gives a new and glorious speech, keyboard revolutionaries proclaim it to be His best. However, those filled with the True Revolutionary Spirit know that this is the official ranking of Dear Leader's works:

1. Let Us March Forward Dynamically Towards Final Victory, Holding Higher the Banner of Songun
2. Making Selfless, Devoted Efforts for the Good of the People Is the Mode of Existence and Source of Invincible Might of the Workers' Party of Korea
3. Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country With Green Woods
4. Let Us Expedite the Construction of the Livestock Farming Base in the Sepho Area and Bring About a Fresh Turn in Developing Animal Husbandry
5. New Year's Address (2017)

And what kind of loyal revolutionary filled with the Spirit Of Juche would undermine his fellow worker's praise of Dear Leader? Kim Jong Un's speeches cannot be ranked. To do so would be to imply that some are less than the pinnacle of perfection. I pity your inability to join the Thousand Voices ushering in a new golden age of Korean Worker's Party without selfishly detracting from the Infinite Wisdom of Kimilsungist thought. The fact that the moderators continue to tolerate your unworthy bourgeois attention-seeking reflects poorly upon their commitment to Final Victory Through Revolutionary Ideological Offensive!

.

Republicans will lose because of the bad economy and because the Cold War is OVER. The party of the hawks (i.e. the Republicans) are no longer relevant, and Ross Perot really speaks to needs of white working-class and black voters. Ross Perot will be the start of a SECULAR revolution, one free from the influence of the Religious Right.
