I vote yes-and I have some ideas as to why this would be the case, but I would like to hear from the rest of the forum first. Tongue

Probably yes, though in general that skewing is due to wealthier and younger people than general being on this forum. Fact is, however, you're more likely to see Duke types when you're in high school or college than you are at your family reunion or your friend's parents' house. Even at a Catholic school, there were a number that seemed to skew right on a number of issues but had largely secular viewpoints and wouldn't oppose abortion if given the choice. Also, likely due to the area I'm in/from, protectionism was a bit more popular among people with fiscally conservative tendencies than in general. That said, I have no idea how these types of people will be voting, or even if they'll be voting. They, naturally, supported the bailouts as well.

Yes, because they've evolved enough to utilize a computer.

Absolutely. How many socially conservative Republicans are there on this board? Like 3?

Yes, especially on gay marriage and marijuana.  Less so on abortion and the death penalty.

Absolutely. This is site has an overrepresented sample of non-religious, urbanized people which tend to be pretty socially liberal.

Really? Because it seems like everybody here who isn't me or Grumps opposes the death penalty...

There's also a lot of "opposed to how it is implemented in the USA" people.

...which is incredibly understandable given how it's implemented in the USA.

Yes for all the aforementioned reasons.  Especially noteworthy is that this forum skews younger than the general population.  However, this doesn't necessarily mean the GOP becomes more socially liberal in the future.  The kinds of politicos who will be running the GOP (or the Democratic Party for that matter) in the future aren't the kind of people you find spending their young adulthood on Atlas Forum.

I said less so.  The forum still generally opposes the death penalty, but the opinion is not as overwhelming as it is on some other issues, it seems.  People like you and Grumps support the death penalty, but also support gay marriage and marijuana.

True, it isn't as overwhelming as gay marriage and marijuana, but from what I've seen it's still much smaller than the number of people who are pro-life when it comes to abortion. In fact, I would guess that people who oppose both abortion and the death penalty outnumber the people who support the death penalty on this forum. But your point still stands, I'm just nitpicking.
