How fast are MS and MI at counting normally?

MI counted 10% of the precincts before their 2nd hour closings in 2014.

According to CNN, a lot of Democrats are apparently crossing over to vote for Kasich in MI and MS

I don't understand this? Wouldn't they want Hillary to face Trump, who is likely a weaker candidate in the general?

If I were American, I would only switch over to try to vote who I thought would be the easiest candidate to beat, who had  the best shot at winning, like Santorum or Gingrich (depending on the state/time) in 2012.

It would be funny though, if Sanders would win Michigan, because democrats voted for Kasich and succesfully beat Trump

From a party strategic point of view, you are correct.

But, perhaps, just perhaps Smiley, people are voting as Americans rather than as Republicans or as Democrats.  They want two candidates with reasonable policies in the race, and may the best win!

Interesting.  Kasich might be re-assembling McCain's 2000 coalition. Its nice to see people cross-party voting altruistically rather than in an 'operation chaos' sort of way.

I just hope this doesn't hurt Clinton too much.

I think it's ambiguous which candidate this would actually help. Hillary's main base is blacks, and I highly doubt they're crossing over en masse to vote for Kasich.

I think there is also a sizable chunk of Kasich/TRUMP/Sanders voters, so it may end up being a draw on the Democratic side in terms of effect.

These are anecdotal evidence and highly unlikely to influence the election especially in a big state like Michigan. Remember all those Republicans who would vote for Bernie in Nevada? How did that work out?

Because Trump is a demagogue, Cruz is a fanatic, Rubio is a third-rate political hack, and Kasich is an orthodox Reaganite. We know what an orthodox Reaganite would do. The Reagan Presidency may have been grossly illiberal, but at least Reagan didn't start any wars for profit or push a speculative boom.  But we liberals survived that.

I made a joke about my preferences in the November election:

1. Sanders
2. Clinton
3. Kasich
4. Canada

Good news for Trump but I could see a lot of these people backing Cruz as well. RIP Lil' Marco and Kasich.

That seems like the norm I've seen in the south and elsewhere, though.

That's for Mississippi, Michigan sounds far more competitive. And not everyone is obviously voting because of this issue.

Have there been any states so far in which a majority of Republicans were against a ban on Muslims entering the country?

"Just over 60%" might actually make Michigan the lowest level of support so far, behind Virginia (63%) and New Hampshire (65%), although it wasn't asked in some other states, including Vermont.

That's pretty low angry numbers for Michigan.
