The whole idea of superdelegates is that they can't be required to support a candidate, so it doesn't make sense. Superdelegates should be abolished outrightly, as the caucuses.

30 years ago, if someone like LePage was in office, they would have been impeached Evan Mecham-style. It's only because we live in the Bush-Palin-Trump era that saying stupid things is considered SOP for Republicans, rather than a sign of mental defect.

Can they get run-offs finally? That would be even more democratic.

Ballot Initiative on the ballot this fall would institute IRV for all offices but President.

FF. Great idea, especially in a state like Maine.

I hope it passes. If it does there will probably be lawsuits but if one state can successfully institute IRV I think many would follow.

Kind of like how they started allocating their electoral votes by CD nearly fifty years ago, and only one other state followed suit, twenty five years ago?  At that rate, all fifty states should be using the Maine/Nebraska method in presidential elections by the year 3194.
