Mostly no, unless the voter is completely and totally uninformed and has not taken the time to research. I might be able to see a willingly blissful ignoramus saying they just voted for the “successful businessman”.

(Of course, ten minutes worth of research proves that this charlatan was an abject failure in business. To say nothing of his moral, ethical, patriotic, or competency failures. Which are almost infinite.)

I'd be interested in hearing an explanation as to how someone could support a fascist dictatorship and still be a good person.

Not everyone who supports Trump supports a fascist dictatorship and Trump winning wont turn us into one either.

There is no rational basis for assuming otherwise on either front.

Explain how Trump can turn the US into a dictatorship when:

- Elections are managed at a state level not a federal one

- the Electoral Count Reform act pretty much makes it impossible for congress to throw out Electoral votes

- The US Constitution unlike Hungary is almost impossible to change

- There are midterms every two years

At worst Trump's Presidency will be how Netanyahu's premiership from from December 2022- September 2023 was like

He uses the campus protests as a pretext to have a hack DA and DOJ declare the Democratic Party a terrorist organization this making the country a one party state

SCOTUS literally made it even harder than it already was to disqualify candidates for federal office so this is just fearmongering.

This current court and if Trump’s elected the immediate court after will be hackish to find ways around that

The same court that ruled against him time and time again when it came to the 2020 election , voted against the idea of independent state legislatures , voted against Alabama on redistricting.

Again this is nothing but insane fearmongering

The suggestion Trump might declare the Democratic Party a "terrorist organization" is not rooted in reality. I say this as someone who hasn't forgotten him teargassing people for no good reason.
People in 19 and early 20 said the same about the idea he would try to stay in office if he lost the election.

The difference is the electoral count act that existed at the time made it easy for the loser to challenge results and even that now has been made significantly harder .

What your saying actually has no basis in reality

OSR as a police dispatcher:

OSR: "911, what's your emergency?"

Caller: "Help! Someone's trying to rob the bank!"

OSR: "What? That's ridiculous. Explain how someone could be robbing the bank when armed robbery is illegal."

Except I mentioned the stopping mechanism to any potential dictatorship.

No, you didn’t.

To turn a democracy into a dictatorship one of 3 things needs to happen:

1. Change the Constitution. This is the straight forward way to do so but its pretty much impossible to change it here though partisan means

2. Rig Elections which again the federal government does not have here. Elections are run by the states not the federal government and the electoral count reform act pretty much made it impossible for congress to throw out electoral votes. Really you need the courts to go along with you here and SCOTUS has shown time and time again that they would not

3. Have the leadership of the military and intelligence agencies on your side. Trump is not even close to having this and its simply impossible to make both completely loyal in just 2 years (which is when the midterms would be).
