Waking up to this terrible news.

There's not much more I can say that others haven't, but sincerely thinking of all of those who have had (and will have) their lives completely changed and uprooted.

India is being cautiously quiet about these recent events.  I’d imagine they’re trying to walk that thin balance between being major trading partners with both Russia and Ukraine.

An official denouncement would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.

I must say that the situation is terrible. But so far I'm fine. At the moment, I am taking my family out of my city to the village where I have a house. Details will be announced later, if possible

Saying a prayer for you at my puja this morning, Andriy.  Please keep us posted, but do be sure that you and your family are safe first and foremost.

Speaking at a high school today (juniors who are interested in a medical career).  I’ve heard a surprising amount of chatter among the kiddos about this.

International Atomic Energy Agency is concerned with Chernobyl, though German news sources report that apparently nothing was damaged at the site so far.

Oh geez, I never even considered Chernobyl.

RIP Martyrs

That makes me so incredibly sad and angry at the same time.

You can be a horse's ass sometimes, but thank you for this Governor Abbott.

I don't want to take away from Ukraine's situation, but when China fully attempts to take over Hong Kong, how likely is it we will see a similar reaction from global leaders?

The big reason I'm not certain we'd see this level of firestorm from the international community (though there would obviously still be a major reaction) is because Hong Kong is still officially (on paper -- not expressing my opinion one way or the other, my Hong Kongese peeps) an administrative region of China.

Ukraine, on the other hand, has been fully recognized as a sovereign nation by most of the world (with one notable exception...).

I'd say that a full-scale invasion and takeover of Taiwan would be more comparable.

I get that national stereotyping is passé, but Chechens just seem like a peculiarly nasty people. Godspeed to the Ukrainians in giving Kadyrov's thugs a beating.
I understand the urge for this given everything that has transpired, but let’s try and refrain from this kind of rhetoric. It is honestly counterproductive.

Agreed.  It's very important to keep a separation between the evaluation of military vs. general population.

Just hearing about this after my hospital shift today.

All my thoughts with those affected, how awful.
