Usually, the western media tries to divide the Latin American left in 2 groups: the bolivarians and the european style social democrats. It's very hard to create categories. AMLO, Scheimbaum and their party Morena don't fit well in both groups. They are not like Chávez and Maduro. But they are also not like the left in Uruguay and Chile, the best examples of european style social democrats in Latin America. I believe the Mexican left is more related to the tradition of the revolution of their own country.
Tbh that is true for most leaders though. I think the left everywhere reflects more the context of the systems they are inserted in.
I wouldn’t put Petro or Lula in the same category as either Boric OR Maduro either tbh. Very specific vives those two.
Lula himself only feels extremely centrist more because of the conciliation that Brazilian highly-fragmented system requires.
And if Chile/Uruguay are the parameters for “European Social Democrat” kind of left then nobody else is into that group.
