I would say yes.

It's hard to say as it depends on who he chooses. Whitmer was Governor less than two years and was overall untested nationally, an overall high risk high reward pick. Warren would've easily cost Biden AZ and GA due to alienating enough moderate suburban voters and Rice would've alienated enough progressive/left voters. Regardless I think any of the women I mentioned would've been better governing partners to President Biden than Kamala Harris has been, and would probably do a better job from a public relations /optics standpoint too.

I don't think Kamala really hurt him in 2020. Her damage came later (i.e. now). Hindsight 20-20, he should have picked Klobauchar. But in 2020, I don't recall Kamala's being an issue for him

No, but it's clear with hindsight that had Biden stuck with his gut pick (Whitmer) rather than Harris, Democrats wouldn't be in as much trouble as they are in 2024.

Klobuchar would have given him a more comfortable lead in WI and PA, and more votes overall, but possibly at the expense of winning GA.

I think that he would’ve won NC if he chose Roy Cooper, but that's it. Other than that I think that’s the only change at least in terms of Biden winning by more. As close as Florida was, I doubt that putting a Dem from Florida on the ticket would've flipped the state given the results of the 2018 midterms.

It doesn't really matter. I don't thonk Harris, or any other running mate was much of a factor in how people voted.

It has had repercussions for our current situation, of course. There would probably be less cold feet if Duckworth or Whitmer were chosen.

She was as popular as Biden in 2020. Every poll said she won the VP debate. I don’t get this notion that somehow she was or still is a liability.

Depending on the choice, probably. We obviously can't know for sure.

The real key is we'd have a better option for replacing Biden now if he had picked someone else.

Yes.

I think CCM could've won him the same states and made Florida and Texas closer, the former might even flip too.
