Is your signature in jest? Why would a New Atheist such as yourself admire someone so subservient to the extremely conservative Russian Orthodox Church?

I hope so, otherwise Monroe has really gone off the deep end in their absence here.

You have it completely backwards- the Russian Orthodox Church is extremely subservient to Putin.

This is really horrible. Trump's dear friend Putin may be the most dangerous person in the history of the world.

Putin has been one of the great success of the 21th century. Just think, before being sworned into the head of state position, Russia was in decline through the boorish antics and poor policy decisions of Boris Yeltsin whose policies help decimate Russia place in the global powers. Putin has rejuvenated the Russian economy, expanded the military to USSR levels, build strong alliances with the Eastern world against the criminal Western governments. Now, his social policies are to the right of mine and the treatment of the press is too authoritarian. When times comes to shove, Putin has make the case to fight against the West. The war in the Ukraine has been a blessing, showing the weakness of Ukraine defense and the limits of backing from Western allies in a conflict. Time to admit that Putin is a extraordinary man fighting the good fight.

Lame bait, 2/10.

Though some people - and not just in Russia itself - absolutely do believe every single word of that.

Since the West claims it has the right to arm Ukraine with impunity, Russia reserves the same right and might send long-range precision weapons to the DPRK and other countries, President Vladimir Putin has said.

Putin spoke with reporters in Hanoi following his meetings with the leadership of Vietnam on Thursday. One of the questions related to his previous suggestion that Moscow could send missiles to the adversaries of the West, in response to the US and its allies greenlighting Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia.

”We do not rule out supplying weapons to other countries, including the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” Putin said. “Let the West think where they might end up.”

Western countries that have supplied long-range and other weapons to Ukraine have said they can’t be held responsible for how Kiev uses them, and insist that it does not make them parties to the conflict, Putin elaborated, adding that Russia therefore reserves the same right for itself.

Russia is about to become a gigantic weapons proliferator. Which means catastrophe for the world. The West needs to insist on an arms control framework as a part of a comprehensive cease-fire deal with Russia. We need to return to the statesmanship of men like John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, who even at the height of the Cold War with Russia, were willing to negotiate deals, rather than just name-calling "orcs" and other nonsense chest-beating.

The problem is that it takes two to tango.
