The colors look bad, none of them feel like pride flags, and they're all bland and forgettable. I never really realized how good the designs of the traditional pride flags were until now tbh.

The LGBT community is going to end up adding so many ridiculous subcultures to its acronym that its flags will eventually resemble medieval European heraldry.

I want to see a flag that deliberately offends the sensibilities of Good Flag, Bad Flag without actually looking terrible.

Maybe I'm biased, because I just really don't like the rainbow flag, or any of its newer variants, but these seem all much better in comparison to me.

The second flag looks like it just overthrew its Soviet-backed government and cut out the communist crest.

I hate all of these flags. What's wrong with the rainbow? Why does the "new" pride flag have colors for "black and brown people" for some reason?

Too many, and some have no visual appeal.

Stick with the original classic.  It looks great.

The revised MLM and lesbian flags look dope. The others look like U.S. towns that redesigned their flags because CGP Grey and r/vexillology told them to, leading to uninspired corporate geometric blobs.

I just realized that the nonbinary flag is nearly a complete ripoff of the ace flag colors. And I can hardly tell where that tiny random yellow-white-black part begins or ends.

I wish polyamory would be added to the LGBTQ+ pantheon or be recognized as a legitimate orientation and not simply an "alternate lifestyle" or "lifestyle choice."

Alternatively, instead of adding letter after letter, why not rename it simply "the non straight" community?

Polyamory should definitely be recognized as equally legitimate to monogamy(and laws should be adjusted to deal with and accommodate multiple partner dynamics rather than acting like it doesn't exist and thus turning simple disputes into massive clusterf**ks with heartbreaking consequences).

Straight Trans people exist. I personally prefer "queer" to "LGBTQ+" because it rolls off the tongue and doesn't run into the issues of the parts included in the plus feeling left out.

I also find that even now despite all the progress we've made in terms of sexual and gender identities that polyamory is still viewed as this gross, immoral, ugly thing. In ways it's not that dissimilar, to my mind, to the way homosexuality was viewed say in the 1970s or 1980s. Both were forbidden by antiquated social or religious traditions that view each as a symptom of a declining culture.

Prior to the 1990s for homosexuality, it was seen not as simply the way one was born as but rather as a choice, a lifestyle, an act of moral failure and not given any legal or social legitimacy. Polyamory is seen much the same today.

With regard to homosexuality we've moved past that phase to recognize that accepting gays will not end society.

With regard to trans people we're still working on that unfortunately. But with polyamory we've not made any actual steps towards progress.

Those who are polyamorous cannot say that they are publicly without invoking societal scorn, head shaking, and so exist only in the margins of society, in the world of kink, where what is an orientation becomes a fetish, and are shamed for it and considered cheaters, unethical, and deviant.

This ought to change but sadly no one is willing to mount any major fight for it.

With regard to your second paragraph, I agree but I also think that the word queer is provocative and not necessarily in the best way. It's got so many unkind roots in linguistics and in history. It essentially means 'strange', different, and when you consider that etymology, even if it's being reclaimed there is still a baggage of bigotry attached to it.

Why should people who aren't heterosexually inclined gender conforming monogamous people accept as a label a word that means strange, different, odd? Haven't they been made to feel that way enough historically?

I feel LGBTQIA+ is so wordy and such a bad label, but I don't know that queer is a preferable alternative considering the root of the word and its history.
