https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/17/politics/fact-check-donald-trump-jobs-biden-immigration/index.html

Quote
Former President Donald Trump, who has promised to conduct mass deportations if he is elected to a second term in November, continued his angry rhetoric about illegal immigration at a campaign rally in Nevada in early June.

“Virtually 100% of the new jobs under Biden have also gone to illegal aliens,” Trump said.

Facts First: Trump’s claim that nearly all the new jobs under Biden have gone to immigrants, whether or not they are allowed to legally work in the US is false. The number of US-born workers increased about 3.5% between May 2021, just after Biden took office, and last month, though it did decline 0.2% over the past year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It’s true that the number of foreign-born workers has increased at a much faster rate – 20% – than the rate for native-born workers during Biden’s presidency, but that doesn’t mean that the native-born are not getting jobs. Also, many economists credit the influx of immigrant workers as a main reason the US labor market has remained strong, and the unemployment rates for both immigrants and US-born workers remain low by historical standards.

Exactly, though it's still important to call out the most outrageous lies. As annoying as these constant calls are, this kind of behavior shouldn't be normalized. This one kind of reminds me of his claim from 2016 that the unemployment rate was 42%.

I hate how the media always calls them "false claims" instead of just "lies"

I wonder what the headlines would be if Biden said that. Probably call it a lie or claim how this more evidence that he's senile.

Most of the new job growth has been because of immigration, which shows how important it is. But Trump continues to demonize all forms of immigration which is so hypocritical. We know for a fact that undocumented workers have worked at Trump's golf courses, that he also routinely applies for foreign worker visas because he claims he can't find suitable American workers. The disconnect between what Trump does and what his supporters believe and his xenophobic rhetoric is incredible.

They did the same with Bush and Chaney long after their lies about Iraq and WMDs were exposed.
Apparently it's considered uncouth to call a president a liar.

This "fact check" is a joke.  It claims to debunk the essence of Trump's statement while actually providing evidence that backs it up, and then tries to pass off the subjective claim that immigrants help the economy as undisputed fact handed down from Mount Economist.

Also, the exaggeration in the phrase "virtually 100%" should also be obvious. It's political rhetoric, not a literal statistic.  Do you think CNN would be so ungracious in evaluating a statement by a Democrat politician?

You guys had a meltdown when Hillary called you guys a “basket of deplorables” but I guess you’re ok with that now?

Saying that Hillary's statement was elitist is quite different than trying to claim it was an objective lie that had to be repudiated with THE FACTSTM!

There is humility in admitting most of what we talk about in politics is subjective and very debatable.  The hubris of liberals’ “fact checking” obsession is believing the way they see the world can be objectively proved.

Well, if the fact-checking "obsession" by liberals or those on the left bothers y'all so much, maybe those on the right should stop f-ing lying so much then.

Lying is a major sin after all.

"Virtually 100%" would imply, you know, virtually 100%. It isn't even remotely accurate to say LEGAL IMMIGRANTS (who rightoids supposedly love) are getting that portion of the work let alone "illegal aliens." Your mental gymnastics to defend this douchebag is pathetic.

Do you mean to tell me that the guy whose campaign churns out these fundraising emails may not be 100% based in facts and reality?  (Or coherence?)

This is legitimately deranged. And terrifying that so many Americans find this palatable.

What's also hilarious is these e-mails look and read like typed in MS Word 2003 by a thirdgrader.

It’s been reported that most all of the jobs added under the Biden administration have been taken by immigrants. Did that report distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants?

At this point it would be effective for Biden to put up campaign billboards with Trump and the word "LIAR" superimposed over his face with nothing else.
