There are differences, but they seemed to have angered their bases in similar ways.

In the sense that people overstate how far they are from their respective parties? I guess.

The difference is that Fetterman is still to the left of the median Democratic Senator, while Romney is genuinely one of the more moderate Republicans.

He's more like a somewhat more conservative Dem being elected in a Blue State.

I don't remember Fetterman leading a "Never Biden" movement.

I know but you'd think he did based on what many online leftists think of him, not that many leftists are supportive of Biden in the first place.

No, because Free Palestine leftists are not the base of the Democratic Party while mentally ill Trump supporters comprise at least 85% of the Republican Party. Bad comparison.

Come on, Fetterman is a Biden loyalist.

Huh

Romney was always a 'traditional' Reagan Republican. He could govern and legislate more 'moderately' when he had to based on when he was Governor of Massachusetts.

Fetterman is a straight out left leaning populist. I.E an ignoramus. Of course, Fetterman is still miles better than faux right wing populist and genuine grifter Dr. Oz and he's also mostly a team player.

But, it seems it really is true that being a small town mayor and a largely powerless Lieutenant Governor really isn't good training that provides experience in national or international issues.

Fetterman would only be the Romney of the Dems if a far-left President was elected and he went to bat against them. He's a fairly lockstep Dem who feels very strongly about some issues that the out-of-power left fringe of the party hates him for.

Have you already forgotten this?

On lab grown meat:
“Pains me deeply to agree with Crash-and-Burn Ron, but I co-sign this,” Fetterman posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, last week about the Florida ban. “As a member of @SenateAgDems and as some dude who would never serve that slop to my kids, I stand with our American ranchers and farmers.

Fetterman's been disappointing to me in a number of ways lately, but left-leaning populists are not all ignoramuses. He's still miles better than many of his colleagues in the Democratic caucus.

Maybe 'ignoramus' is a bit hyperbolic, but I don't like populists and I don't think it can be disputed that they rely/take advantage of the ignorance of their supporters to promote/run on ridiculous/impractical policy proposals or to run on no policy proposals but straight out grievance politics.
