Oh come on Polis, you're supposed to be one of the good Democratic governors.

I was going to say “rare Polis L” but it seems he reluctantly signed it despite this last-minute amendment delaying ranked choice because the other parts were important for this year’s election. I trust the guy is smart enough to know what he’s doing.

The headline doesn't do justice to the story. Apparently there were last minute amendments from the legislature that made this unworkable. Not sure if that's just an excuse or not, but from what the article says this doesn't seem dishonorable or unreasonable to me.

Good news, no state should have ranked-choice voting.

Supporters of RCV argue it strengthens democracy, but passing it could actually be counterintuitive. RCV is confusing for voters who are using it for the first time. Additionally, because it’s also only being pushed for by one party, it just looks like democrats are trying to change the rules to advantage them (which could further embolden Republicans to pass their own election laws).

RCV is in no way confusing. You literally just rank your choices.

I get the whole “it’s too hard” argument, but the main reason I could see someone opposing RCV is if they’re a slave to the duopoly. I was hoping that Polis would've been better than that. Granted Massachusetts successfully prevented this from becoming by it being on the back of the ballot and bringing no attention to it.

I'm not opposed to RCV at all and think it could end up working better for both sides in some cases.  I can think of several races where the Libertarian candidate kept a Republican from wnning.

I see it as a positive measure to get more moderates elected.  Alaska has already shown this when it kept Palin out of Congress.

I still don't understand why RCV became the favored method when approval voting is sitting right there.
