Trumpistan (when POTUS is Republican)
Wokeistan (when POTUS is Democrat)

Make this 100% official and legally binding. Get it done.

and Republican Presidents will not be known as "Presidents" any longer. Their official title will be "Trump of the United States".

Why does the name have to be from an European colonizer? Both America (Americo Vespuccio) and Columbia/Colombia (Christopher Columbus) come from this.

I prefer names that represent something from the country itself, maybe some natural or animal element, something alongside these lines.

The U.S. like Brazil is a very large country, so a descriptive name for one region is not descriptive of another. If you described Brazil based on a region now it would be the Amazon, even though almost all of the population centers are pretty far away from the Amazon.

But Brasil name IS from natural elements.

Brasil comes from “Brasa”, which in Portuguese means “Ember”. There was a wood here that it looked extremely red, which is why Brasil means “Red like Ember”.

Argentina is also very big and its name comes from Rio de la Plata (“The Land besides the Silver River”), which is where Buenos Aires is located at the basin.

I like it more than America, Colombia or Venezuela origins, all very European-centered

There is no tree called 'ember'.

An 'ember' is a red hot burning piece of wood.

The only 'reddish wood' in Brazil that it could possibly be is Dalbergia nigra.

And you have been reported for not including a map of Australia with a special name.

There's not really any good options. Appropriate would probably be some variation of Turtle Island, Columbia as our forgotten countrysona, or as I've always leaned toward in alternate history scenarios where the abolitionist North secedes, Fredonia but spelled "Freedonia" so it's less godawful. If we wanna be tongue-in-cheek and riff on Bosnia-Herzegovina, then Masonia-Dixie. Tongue

Nope, it’s called Pau-Brasil:

The “Brasil” as I said is what comes from “Brasa” (“Ember” in Portuguese) because of the Reddish tone of the Wood.

Paubrasilia echinata page in Wikipedia

Quote
When Portuguese explorers found Paubrasilia on the coast of South America, they recognised it as a relative of an Asian species of sappanwood already used in Europe for producing red dye. The Portuguese named these trees pau-brasil, the term pau meaning wood, and brasil meaning reddish/ember-like. The South American trees soon dominated trading as a better source of dye. Such a vigorous trade resulted from the woods that early sailors and merchants started referring to the land itself as Terra do Brasil, or simply, the "Land of Brazil"; from this use, the present name of Brazil was derived.

Jeez, you cannot argue that that is not red. I stand corrected.
