The chances are slim, given the barriers. With only 4 house representatives and one senator who are Native American they make up a small minorty in the congressional legislative.  1.3% of the American population is indignious. It would be interesting what political party the first hypothetically Native American president would come from. I'd wager it would likely be a Democrat, even if a good deal of Natives reside in tradiitional Republican states.

If Peggy Flanagan succeeds Walz as Minnesota Governor in 2026, she could be a potential one down the road.

I could see Peltola or Haaland ending up being 'compromise nominees' this year in a HYPER multi divided convention.

Also, imagine Beshear/Peltola or Beshear/Haaland "freedom tickets".

Obviously both are hypotetical cases with a 0,001% of happening.

I would say that she would need to win a statewide election in Kansas to get traction. (in that case, she would become at minimun an Atlas favorite). Or maybe somehow become House leader (altrought her running to president would become less likely in that case

Also, can she?
She was born in Germany.

Haaland would be the closest chance, with her cabinet experience giving her leverage for an presidential run. Very small chance  I see her giving a shot at running.

Sharice Davids would more likely be in a cabinet position since she was born outside the country.

True, but born to a US citizen who was just serving overseas in the military at the time.  I can’t find info about her dad, but her the info I can find about her mom indicates that she is a US citizen.  Several presidential candidates, like John McCain, were born overseas and have been able to run.

Sorry Liz, but it looks like another Massachusetts politician beat you to it 100 years ago:

Quote
As president, Coolidge seemed to take an interest in meeting with Native groups, ensuring he was photographed meeting with tribal representatives at the White House throughout his tenure, from the Committee of One Hundred at the start of his term to a Comanche delegation during his last year in office. The famously taciturn president claimed in his autobiography that his great-grandmother’s family “showed a marked trace of Indian blood.” But this claim is unverified, its origin seemingly known only to Coolidge himself.

In all serious, a Mexican- or other Hispanic-American mestizo who's roughly 50% indigenous should count. Certainly more so than someone who's supposedly 1/16 Iroquois or something, and just looks white...
